Rejuvenating Spirulina & Clay Mask

This rejuvenating and warming facial mask is crafted for normal, combo and oily skin.  I use this a few times per week when I want to deep clean my pores and increase circulation to my face.  I chose Fuller's Earth Clay because it has enormous drawing capabilities and is the number one choice for oily skin and those prone to acne.  It literally draws oil from the pores.  Spirulina offers an impressive array of protective antioxidants and imparts the beautiful green color to the mask.  The warming effect comes from the ground ginger root.  I add in a bit of Matcha tea and tumeric as they are both wonderful anti-oxidants and beneficial to the skin.  I also use Aloe Vera Gel when making the mask, but your favorite hydrosol would be wonderful too.

You can order all the ingredients, including the Fuller's Earth, from Mountain Rose Herbs.

In a small bowl, add in 5 grams of Fuller's Earth, 1.5 grams of Spirulina Powder, 1.5 grams Matcha Tea, 0.5 grams of Ground Ginger Root, and 0.5 grams of Tumeric.

Stir well to combine all the dry ingredients.

Add in 20 to 25 grams of Aloe Vera Gel and stir into a smooth paste.

I like to apply a thick layer of this mask with a large foundation brush and leave it on for about 20 minutes and then rinse with warm water.  You may notice a slight redness to your face which should go away within 1 hour.  Avoid getting this in your eyes or nose as it will sting and irritate your mucous membranes.  I find that this recipe makes enough for two to three masks. Store it in the fridge with a tight lid so it does not dry out.

Here I am in full green goo-ish glory!Boo!!
