Bacteria Busting Hand Sanitizer

Did you know that making your own hand sanitizer is pretty darn' tootin' easy? The secret is to have at least 60% alcohol.  I like to mix two different proof Vodkas and add in some proven "bacteria busting" essential oils.  Lets make our special Bacteria Busting Blend of essential oils first.

Bacteria Busting Blend 
80 drops Clove Bud Essential Oil
70 drops Lemon Essential Oil
40 drops Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil
30 drops Eucalyptus Essential Oil
30 drops Tea Tree Essential Oil
20 drops of Rosemary Essential Oil

Mix together in a dark amber colored bottle.  Keeps for at least 2 years.

You need to apply a "caution" label so folks who may come across it know that it needs to be highly diluted before use.  You also need to do your own research and make sure that you are not allergic to any of the oils and that they are safe for you to use.  Essential Oil safety is very important!!!

For my hand sanitizer, I mix equal parts of 105 Proof Vodka and 151 Proof Vodka.  This way I get 64% alcohol content.  You can use rubbing alcohol if you choose and it is a lot cheaper too.  I like to do 60 grams of each for a total of 120 grams of alcohol.  I then add in 10 drops of the Bacteria Busting Blend of Essential oils and store it in an amber colored glass spray bottle.  The secret to sanitizing your hands is to mist enough of the spray on your hands where they dry after at least 15 seconds.  This is of course flammable and needs to be stored away from heat!!!
