Vitamin E Gel
Every time I take a stroll through the skincare aisle of my local department store, I end up laughing harder than a hyena on helium. It's astonishing to see the kind of potions ladies are willing to slather on their faces, not to mention the king's ransom they pay for these chemical cocktails!
Just the other day, I spotted a Vitamin E Gel that was more popular than a viral TikTok dance. Nestled in a tiny shiny black plastic jar, it was going for a jaw-dropping $90.00 for a measly 30 ml. I was intrigued by the 'supposed' skin food ingredients it boasted of. This fancy shmancy jar contained lanolin, avocado oil, wheat germ oil, apricot kernel oil, sweet almond oil, vitamin E, and lanolin oil. They had even thrown in some BHT (Butylated hydroxytoluene), assumedly to stop the oils from going bad, although it's not exactly a health booster!
Don't get me wrong, I liked the product (minus a few suspect ingredients). But the price tag? Not so much. I know the real cost of these raw ingredients, and let me tell you, they're not even in the same ballpark as $90 per ounce! I was sure I could whip up a similar concoction in my own kitchen, for a fraction of the cost.
So, I cheekily asked for a sample to get a feel for the texture and consistency. I also noted down the ingredients, and hotfooted it back home to my DIY beauty lab. Would you believe it, I nailed it on the first try! My homemade version was a spitting image of the expensive one. So ladies, roll up your sleeves and get ready to enjoy this luxurious, homemade Vitamin E Gel! You can find most of the ingredients at Mountain Rose Herbs. Let's show those overpriced brands who's boss!
