Radiant Skin Activated Charcoal & Clay Clearing Mask
Gather 'round, skincare enthusiasts! Here's some juicy tidbit for you - did you know activated charcoal is like the heavyweight champion of the beauty world? It can guzzle up over 500 times its weight in skin impurities! Talk about pulling its weight, right? Teamed up with the trusty sidekick, Kaolin Clay, it ensures your skin is as clean, clear, and radiant as a Hollywood star on the red carpet.
But we're not stopping there! I've tossed in some matcha for a power-packed antioxidant punch. Ever had a green tea latte? Well, imagine that for your skin! It's like a yoga session for your face, reducing inflammation and promoting an even skin tone.
We're also mixing in a bit of Lavender and Calendula tinctures. The lavender is like a calming lullaby for your skin, while the calendula is the secret weapon against inflammation and acne. It's like having a tiny skin superhero in your corner.
Now let's talk essential oils. We've got a blend of eucalyptus, bergamot, cypress, and rosewood. It's like a traffic cop for your pores, breaking up congestion and improving clarity. But remember, folks, bergamot can turn your skin into a sun magnet, so slap on that sunscreen for at least a week after using this mask. And when buying bergamot essential oil, always go for Bergaptene-Free. That's your skincare homework!
You can buy activated charcoal at most drug stores and natural food stores. I keep a bottle in my emergency first-aid kit just in case one of my children ingests something they should not.
Since I am an herbalist, I make most of my own tinctures. It takes several weeks for them to be ready, so you can purchase excellent tinctures from either Mountain Rose Herbs or Herb Pharm.
Lets assemble our ingredients for the Radiant Skin Activated Charcoal & Clay Clearing Mask.
Radiant Skin Activated Charcoal & Clay Clearing Mask
10 grams Kaolin Clay
6 Activated Charcoal Capsules (break open the capsules and empty the charcoal out)
3 grams Matcha Powder
15 grams Aloe Vera Gel
5 grams Witch Hazel Extract
5 grams Vegetable Glycerine
5 ml Lavender Tincture
5 ml Calendula Tincture
10 drops Bergamot Essential Oil
8 drops Cypress Essential Oil
5 drops Eucalyptus Essential Oil
5 droops Rosewood Essential Oil
Place the kaolin clay, activated charcoal and matcha powder into a small glass bowl. Mix together.
Drizzle the Aloe Vera gel, Witch Hazel, Vegetable Glycerine and the tinctures over the powder. Mix well to form a smooth and creamy paste.
Add in the essential oils and mix well.
Eucalyptus essential oil evaporates very quickly, so you want to place a lid on this as soon as possible. Store it in a cool dry area and use within 2 weeks. To use: paint an even layer of the product over your face (avoid eyes, mouth and nose). Allow the product to remain on your face for at least 20 minutes or until it is dry. Rinse off with warm water. Follow with a sunscreen and moisturizer.
I sincerely hope you enjoy making this facial mask and look forward to hearing how well it worked for you. Thanks for reading my blog and I wish you abundant green blessings!!!
