Nourishing Belly & Body Oil

One of my favorite clean beauty brands, True Botanicals, recently launched their Mindful Mama Belly and Body Oil, and I absolutely loved it when I sampled it at Nordstrom. Of course, I wanted to get busy in my kitchen making my own version of a nourishing belly and body oil.  There is something wonderfully luxurious about taking two extra minutes after a hot shower to care for your skin.  I started using my formula while I was in the sauna, and my skin is amazingly soft afterward. My formula has just a whisper of essential oils. Instead of a strong fragrance profile, I chose a delicate essential oil blend that offers a subtle, spa-like aroma while letting the natural beauty of the botanical oils shine through.  Sometimes the simplest formulas are the ones we reach for again and again.  **I know I used a lot of different oils; don't feel pressure to buy them all. Use what you have and play around with your very own unique formula. **

Nourishing Belly & Body Oil

Makes 100 ml

30 ml sunflower oil (lightweight and barrier supporting)

20 ml squalane (silky, fast absorbing)

20 ml jojoba oil (mimics skin's natural sebum)

10 ml camellia seed oil (rich in oleic acid and feels amazing)

10 ml apricot kernel oil (softens and conditions)

8 ml rosehip seed oil (essential fatty acids)

2 ml vitamin e (helps slow oxidation of the other oils)

Very Subtle Essential oil blend: (0.2%)

2 drops neroli

2 drops tangerine

2 drops ginger

1 drops frankincense

Measure each carrier oil into a glass beaker or container.  Stir until completely blended and add in the vitamin E.  Add in the essential oils and stir gently.  Pour into a 100 ml amber or frosted glass bottle. I like the ones with a pump or a dropper.
