Professional Lip Balm Formula

Here is a solid, professional-grade lip balm formula that yields 10 (1/4-ounce) tubes, perfect for gift-giving or as a substantial stash for yourself.  You can use white or yellow beeswax, and it provides structure and barrier protection. Shea butter is an emollient and is very nourishing.  The coconut oil provides a slight gloss and a silky slip.  Jojoba oil mimics natural sebum, providing a smooth glide and a comforting feel.  Vitamin E is an antioxidant that helps extend the shelf life.  The castor oil adds a cushiony feel and a sleek shine.  You can choose 10 drops of peppermint or spearmint essential oil, or 15 drops of sweet orange essential oil, if you prefer, or you can leave it as is. You can make it vegan by replacing the beeswax with carnauba or candelilla wax. I like to get my ingredients from Mountain Rose Herbs.

1 ounce (28 grams) Beeswax pastilles

0.6 oz (17 grams) Shea butter

0.6 oz (17 ) grams Coconut Oil

0.2 oz (6 grams) Jojoba Oil

Great ingredients are found at Mountain Rose Herbs.

In a heat-safe glass beaker or Pyrex cup, melt the beeswax, shea butter, coconut oil, and jojoba oil over a gentle double boiler until completely melted. Remove from the heat and stir in the Vitamin E, Castor Oil, and essential oils. Quickly but carefully pour into 10 empty lip balm tubes (1/4 ounce size). Allow to cool and solidify, and then cap, label, and store in a cool place.
