Sheer Glow Rosy Face Tint

Inspired by Chantecaille Sheer Glow Rose Face Tint

I recently found myself in a bit of a beauty crisis. I was almost out of my beloved Chantecaille Sheer Glow Rose Face Tint. It is a very magical cream that gives my complexion a luminous, healthy-looking glow. I mean, who doesn’t want to look like they’ve just returned from a rejuvenating spa day? I was so sad that my little jar was nearing its end.

So, in the spirit of DIY and a little bit of desperation, I decided to create my own version—a dupe, if you will. Spoiler alert: it was a success, and I am so happy to share my formula with you.

For my formula, I chose pure rose hydrosol I purchased from Mountian Rose Herbs as the base. It’s a lot fancier than plain distilled water and it smells divine! If you’re aiming for a more budget-friendly option, don’t fret—you can totally use distilled water like the original version does. But let’s be honest, who can resist a little rose magic?

Next up, I decided to lightly scent my creation. I added just two drops of pure Bulgarian rose essential oil for that luxurious aroma. Ahh, the fragrance!  If you’re looking for a more wallet-friendly option, you can swap in geranium essential oil-or leave out the essential oil all together.

Now, let’s talk about preservation because nobody wants their DIY beauty product to go bad, right? I used 1% phenoxyethanol-sa to ensure my cream stays fresh. According to the Environmental Working Group, it’s rated a level 2, which is pretty good in the world of preservatives. Remember, since my formula contains water, preservation is key!

If you don’t want to use a preservative, you can pop your cream in the refrigerator. This not only helps with preservation but gives your skin a refreshing coolness when you apply it. Just make sure to use it within a few weeks.

After mixing all my ingredients, I was thrilled with how my DIY Sheer Glow Rose Face Tint turned out. The texture is creamy, the scent is heavenly, and the glow? It’s everything I love about the Chantecaille version, but with the added satisfaction of having created it myself.

So, the next time you find yourself on the brink of a beauty emergency, don’t panic! Grab your ingredients and channel your inner DIY spirit. You might just discover a new favorite that’s not only fun to make but also kind to your wallet. Happy crafting, fresh-picked beauties!

Phase A:

2.5 grams Jojoba Oil

2.5 grams Creammaker Wax (from MakingCosmetics.com)

1.5 grams Creammaker CA-20 (from MakingCosmetics.com)

5.5 grams Coconut Oil

0.3 grams Vitamin E

Phase B:

36 grams Rose Hydrosol

Phase C:

2 drops Rose Essential Oil

0.5 grams Phenoxyethanol-SA (from MakingCosmetics.com)

0.25 grams Apple Blossom Mica blend (from tkbtrading.com)

0.04 grams Pearl Pink Mica blend (from tkbtrading.com)

Combine phase A ingredients into a heat resistant glass beaker. Combine phase B ingredients into another beaker. Heat both to 160 degrees F.  Slowly add phase B to phase A. Stir constantly.

Once it starts to thicken and gets below 100 degrees F, add in the rose essential oil, the preservative and the mica powders. Use a small whisk blender to completely incorporate the formula.

Make sure you blend well to incorporate the mica powder completely and there is no streaking. Fill it into a clean and sanitized jar.

My formula is on the left and the famous brand is on the right. I actually like the pink tone of my formula better and it feels amazing on the skin and is not oily or greasy whatsoever. So grab your mixing bowls and get ready to glow—because who needs a store-bought miracle when you can create your own beauty magic right at home?
