Turning 50: The Midlife Crisis That Brought Me Back to Life (And Made Me Realize Cheese is a Frenemy)

Hey there, fabulous readers!

Guess what? I'm about to hit the big 5-0! Yep, the half-century mark is just around the corner, and let me tell you, it's been a bumpy ride. Picture this: a bloated, inflamed, achy, and exhausted me, dragging myself to the gym and chowing down on what I thought were healthful foods, only to find myself feeling worse and worse. My scale was having a meltdown, my joints were auditioning for a horror movie, and my periods were, well, let's just say they were auditioning for "Shark Week."

I was like, "Wait a minute, this isn't how it's supposed to go! I'm exercising, lifting weights, eating beans and grains and calcium-rich dairy, and avoiding donuts like they’re coated in kryptonite. What gives?!"

Turns out, dear readers, my body had a few surprises up its sleeve. After a deep dive into the world of nutrition, I discovered that dairy, lectins, nightshades, and too much animal protein were my arch-nemeses. And let's not even talk about the state of my gut – it was leakier than a colander!

So, what did I do? I went down a rabbit hole of self-discovery, devouring books, binge-listening to podcasts, and making more changes than a chameleon at a disco party. And guess what? Things started to turn around! I began to feel better, gain energy, and, dare I say, I even started to enjoy this journey of becoming my healthiest, most vibrant self.

Now, I know this blog is all about natural beauty – and trust me, being healthy is the best beauty hack out there. So, I'm inviting you to join me on this wild ride. I'll be sharing all the tips, tricks, and recipes that are helping me feel my best. From battling leaky gut to embracing a balanced diet, we're in this together!

My book, "200 Tips, Techniques, and Recipes for Natural Beauty," is all about sharing the love, and this blog is no different. So, come along for the ride, laugh at my misadventures, and pick up a few health tips along the way. Who knows, maybe we’ll all live to be 100, feeling fabulous and looking naturally beautiful!

Here's to health, happiness, and a whole lot of humor. Stay tuned for more updates, and remember – cheese may be delicious, but sometimes it's just not worth the bloat!

Cheers,

Shannon
