Essential Oils for Stress
Stressed? Me? Nah, just juggling setting up a business, finalizing product formulas, blending like a mad barista, creating labels, sourcing packaging, and a million other tasks that come with birthing a company. A cakewalk, really. If the cake was on fire. And I was walking on hot coals. Barefoot.
Thankfully, Mother Nature decided to throw me a lifeline. My adoptogenic herbs and sedative essential oils have been working overtime, taking the edge off like a worn-out nail file. They've been my little cheerleaders, helping me tackle stress and keep my spirits up. Who needs a spa day when you've got these natural wonders?
So, let me share the wealth. Here are a few of my fave essential oils with known sedative and uplifting qualities. Think of them as little bottles of tranquility, ready to swoop in and save the day whenever stress and tension try to crash your party. I use my essential oils to relieve my stress several ways......
Steam Inhalation: I add ten drops of essential oil into a bowl of hot water, drape a large towel over my head, close my eyes, think about something positive and breath in the essential oil vapors. My favorite essential oils to use for steam inhalation are: Lavender, Sweet Marjoram, Myrtle, Peppermint, Clary Sage and Cypress.
Room Spray: I make a two-ounce bottle of stress-relieving room spray to mist around my house when I need it. Here is a blend I crafted.
30 ml alcohol
30 ml rose hydrosol
20 drops lemon essential oil
20 drops mandarin petitgrain essential oil
15 drops mandarin essential oil
15 drops Ylang Ylang essential oil
Combine all the ingredients into a spray bottle. Shake well and mist your room to create a stress-free area.
I also make a wonderful massage blend that I massage into my chest, neck and shoulders to help loosen up my muscles and calm me down.
2 tablespoons sweet almond oil
5 drops rose essential oil
8 drops neroli essential oil
6 drops sandalwood essential oil
2 drops mandarin essential oil
Combine all the ingredients in a small bottle. Massage into your chest, neck and shoulders until fully absorbed. Focus on deep breathing while you are massaging to help loosen up your still neck and shoulders.
Feeling as jittery as a squirrel on a double espresso? You're not alone, my friend! In this day and age, stress, nervousness, and anxiety are as common as cat videos on the internet.
Sometimes, though, these feelings can become as serious as realizing you've run out of toilet paper at a very inconvenient moment. When that happens, it's time to call in the pros - no, not Ghostbusters, but a mental health professional.
If you're feeling more stressed or anxious than a turkey at Thanksgiving, please don't hesitate to seek help. It's as simple as reaching for the last slice of pizza at a party – you might feel a bit self-conscious, but remember, you're worth it! Never be afraid to ask for the extra cheese in life, you deserve it!
