Damascus Rose Beauty Balm

Fresh-Picked Beauty's Damascus Rose Beauty Balm

I was inspired to create this recipe from a product I sampled at Whole Foods a few days ago.  This super nourishing balm is wonderful for the face, neck and under eye area.  You can massage it into your cuticles and on your heels if you like.  I used antioxidant-rich oils in my recipe along with a potent blend of lavender essential oil, rose essential oil and Roman Chamomile essential oil.   A little of this product goes a very long way because it does not contain any water.

Photo of the "other guy's" product I sampled in Whole Foods.
For my recipe you will need the following ingredients. Most can be purchased from Mountain Rose Herbs.

1 tablespoon Calendula Infused Olive Oil
2 teaspoons Castor Oil
1 teaspoon Beeswax
1/4 teaspoon Seabuckthorn Oil
1/4 teaspoon Rosehip Seed Oil
10 drops Lavender Essential Oil
5 drops Roman Chamomile Essential Oil
3 drops Rose Essential Oil

I make my own Calendula Infused Olive Oil. You can learn how to make your own HERE or purchase it from Mountain Rose Herbs HERE.

You can buy the Roman Chamomile and Bulgarian Rose Essential Oils from Mountain Rose Herbs HERE.

My friend grows and distills a really wonderful lavender essential oil and has been pouring her love of lavender into her business since 2005.  You can order Martha Lane Lavender HERE.

Place the calendula infused olive oil, castor oil, beeswax, seabuckthorn oil, and rosehip seed oil into a small glass measuring cup and sit it in a pan with a few inches of simmering water. Stir the ingredients until the oils and beeswax have melted. Remove from the heat.

Add in the essential oils and stir to combine.

Pour the liquid into a small container and allow to cool to room temperature. Place a lid on the container.

After the balm cools down, it will have a very soft texture and is easily massaged into the skin. I like to use this as a night time treatment. Literally a small pea-sized amount is all it takes for my entire face and neck. I use another small amount on my hands too.  This stuff is amazing!!! It has the intoxicating aroma of Bulgarian Rose....need I say more???  Cheers!!

Plumping Honey Lip Mask

Do you want kissable smooth and plump lips? Are you lips dehydrated and wrinkled because of the dry winter weather? Smooth the look of fine wrinkles around the lip area with my Plumping Honey Lip Mask. Made with ultra-repairing lanolin oil, smoothing castor seed oil, nourishing olive oil, sweet all-natural honey and delectable vanilla absolute.

Apply a heavy layer before bed and wake up to moisturized plump lips. Apply a super thin layer before you apply your lipstick to help it last longer during the day.

My recipe does not use a preservative and is best stored in the fridge and used up within six weeks.

Makes a great overnight cuticle cream too!

Plumping Honey Lip Mask
makes about 1 ounce

2 teaspoons lanolin oil
3/4 teaspoon Mountain Rose Herbs castor seed oil
3/4 teaspoon honey
1 1/2 heaping teaspoons Mountain Rose Herbs beeswax
1/2 teaspoon Mountain Rose Herbs olive oil
1/4 teaspoon vitamin E oil
10 drops Mountain Rose Herbs vanilla absolute

Place the lanolin, castor oil, honey, beeswax and olive oil into a small glass measuring cup and place it in a pan that has a few inches of simmering water. Stir to melt together all the ingredients. Remove from the heat and add in the vitamin E oil and vanilla absolute. Stir well.

Carefully pour the hot liquid into a metal or glass container. Allow to cool until hardened. ****This is important....you need to whip the ingredients very well once they have cooled until you get a nice  fluffy consistency. The honey and vanilla absolute tends to separate to the bottom. I like to use a small wooden stick to whip the ingredients together.

As you can tell in the photo above, the mask whips up to a fluffy and creamy texture. For best results, don't use your finger to take out the lip mask, use a small sanitary spoon or disposable wooden stick. You will notice terrific results after your first application.

Naked Beard Butter

Do you want a super simple beard butter that can tame and soften your coarse hair? My three ingredient unscented recipe makes a wonderful smoothing beard butter that will leave your beard shaped, softened and handsome! I used refined coconut oil that is odorless. If you enjoy a light coconut aroma, choose unrefined.

Mountain Rose Herbs offers a really wonderful refined coconut oil. Click HERE to shop.

I chose coconut oil because it is lightweight and easily absorbed into coarse beard hair.

You can buy beeswax bars and pastilles from Mountain Rose Herbs. Click HERE.
In order to thicken up the coconut oil, you can use a little bit of beeswax. If you are vegan or vegetarian, choose carnauba or soy wax in place of the beeswax.

I like to add in Shea Butter to moisturize the skin and keep it from feeling itchy and dry.

Naked Beard Butter
makes about 3 ounces

1.5 ounces refined coconut oil
1 ounce Shea butter
1/2 ounce grated beeswax

Measure the ingredients into a glass measuring cup and sit it in a pan that contains a few inches of simmering water. Stir gently until all ingredients have melted. Remove from heat and carefully pour the hot mixture into a heatproof container with a tight fitting lid. Allow to cool and harden.

To use: Warm a very small amount in your hand to soften and massage through your beard and on your skin. Style your beard as desired.

10 out of 10 "Bearded Beauties" agree that a soft, manageable and well-groomed beard is possible when using my Naked Beard Butter. Enjoy!!!
