Skin Smoothing Kokum Butter Face Cream

I love Kokum Butter from Mountain Rose Herbs! According to Mountain Rose Herbs, Kokum butter is composed of beneficial compounds that help regenerate skin cells.  It's commonly used in skin healing lotions, creams and body butters, as well as soaps.  Highly recommended to those that need a product with skin-healing capabilities.

My recipe for Skin Smoothing Kokum Butter Face Cream will help regenerate tired and worn skin and will support skin elasticity and general flexibility of the skin wall.

This is an all-purpose cream that doubles as a body and hand cream too! My recipes makes about four ounces so store it in the fridge and refill a small 1/2-ounce jar to use within a few days. My recipe does not use a preservative.

2 tablespoons Mountain Rose Herbs Kokum Butter (**Regenerates tired and worn skin)
1 teaspoon Mountain Rose Herbs Castor Oil (**Very smoothing to the skin and acts as a barrier agent)
1 teaspoon Mountain Rose Herbs Camelina Oil (**high amounts of Omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamin E and anti-oxidants)
1 teaspoon Mountain Rose Herbs Avocado Oil (**Promotes natural collagen production)
1/4 teaspoon Mountain Rose Herbs Stearic Acid
1 1/4 teaspoons Mountain Rose Herbs Emulsifying Wax
1/3 cup Mountain Rose Herbs Helichrysum Hydrosol (**Helps tone the skin and promote healing of damaged tissue)
1/4 teaspoon Vitamin E Oil
3 drops Tea Tree Essential Oil
2 drops Clary Sage Essential Oil
3 drops Rosemary Essential Oil
3 drops Eucalyptus Essential Oil
1 drop Rose Absolute
1 drop Ylang Ylang Essential Oil

Bring a small pot with a few inches of water to a simmer.  In a glass measuring cup, add in the Kokum Butter, Castor Oil, Camelina Oil, Avocado Oil, Stearic Acid and Emulsifying Wax. Place the measuring cup into the simmering water and heat until all ingredients have melted together.

While the butter, waxes and oils are melting, bring another saucepan with a few inches of water to a simmer.  In another glass measuring cup, add in the Helichrysum hydrosol and place the measuring cup in the simmering water and  heat to about 130 degrees.

Turn off the heat and remove both measuring cups.  Using an immersion blender, start blending the oil/butter/wax mixture. Slowly pour in the heated hydrosol and blend for five minutes to emulsify. Add in the Vitamin E oil and essential oils and blend for another two to three minutes. Transfer to a sanitized glass jar with a lid. Store in the refrigerator and use within 3 weeks.

Holiday Cheer Diffuser Oil Blend

Happy Holidays!!! I have been crazy busy teaching classes, serving on a Jury and learning how to play the piano.  It has been a whirl wind of a month! I wanted to share a recipe I made up a few days ago.  I call it "Tis the Season Holiday Diffuser Oil".  I add it to my essential oil diffuser and it makes my house smell like holiday magic. I use vanilla absolute, cinnamon leaf, sweet orange, nutmeg, clove and a few other delicious essential oils.

May I suggest two of may favorite essential oil diffusers.......

Mountain Rose Herbs AromaMist Ultrasonic Diffuser: Create a tranquil fragrant environment in any room with this simple to use ultrasonic diffuser. The AromaMist diffuser uses half a cup of tap or bottled water and a few drops of your favorite essential oil to create a continuous fragrant mist for up to three hours. This nearly silent unit has a built-in shut off for when the water level gets low. This pearl white diffuser also has an optional light setting that glows in blue, pink, or a revolving rainbow of colors.

Ultrasonic diffusion creates a fine mist by using ultrasonic vibrations to dispense essential oils into the air using water as a carrier. This mist is created without the use of heat, and helps to add moisture into the air in addition to the aroma-therapeutic benefits of essential oils.

Measures: 6 1/2" in diameter by 3 1/4" tall

Mountain Rose Herbs Natura Ultrasonic Diffuser: This stylish diffuser features a natural wood housing which encloses the latest ultrasonic technology providing a steady, strong therapeutic mist. The wood used to enclose the diffuser is created from fallen trees in Thailand, making this a more sustainable option for your diffusing needs. This diffuser has intermittent operation options, and will easily fill a 300 square foot room with aroma-therapeutic goodness.

Head over to Mountain Rose Herbs for the finest quality essential oils available. You will need the following for my recipe.....

Vanilla Absolute, Cinnamon Leaf, Sweet Orange, Nutmeg, Clove, Cedarwood, Frankincense and Ylang Ylang. **I used Cinnamon Leaf instead of Cinnamon Bark because the bark is often too potent and irritating when diffused.

You will also need a 5 ml or 10 ml glass bottle. You can find a wide selection of amber bottles at Mountain Rose Herbs.
